BURRILLVILLE – The Rhode Island Department of Transportation will temporarily close a section of Route 102/Broncos Highway in the Glendale section of Burrillville this weekend as part of ongoing rehabilitation of the structurally deficient Joslin Road Bridge, which carries Route 102 over Joslin Road and the Branch River.

A section of roadway will be closed on Sunday night, August 3, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The closure will be repeated periodically, during evening and overnight hours when traffic volumes are lowest, through the end of the summer, according to a release from the agency. RIDOT noted closure notices will be posted on its website as scheduled at www.ridot.net/TravelAdvisories#NorthernRI.

During the closure, motorists on Route 102 will use Glendale Bypass, Victory Highway and East Avenue to detour. Local traffic will be permitted between East Avenue and the bridge.

Rehabilitation of this bridge is part of a $18.8 million, multibridge project in Burrillville. The Joslin Road Bridge carries approximately 16,000 vehicles per day. The entire project is scheduled to be finished in spring 2026.

RIDOT noted that all construction projects are subject to changes in schedule and scope depending on needs, circumstances, findings and weather.

  1. The bridge at tuffy’s will fall into the river before the town says “oops we shouldn’t have pulled those weight limit signs down and let oversized loads and heavy truck traffic over it”
victory highway is already a speedway. Leave the potholes, they’re like ghetto speed bumps

  2. Can RIDOT PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE resurface Victory Highway, from just north of Bella south through Mapleville? They entire length through Glendale, Oakland and Mapleville is an absolute abomination! Potholes holding potholes unglued, sags, bumps, utility patches that are all blown out, rutting, aligator cracked divets, heaves and shoving to a degree that actually hurts your vehicle. We need some pavement management up here in the North! Where is our local Representation advocacy on this? Please, it is time. It is undoubtedly the worst road in Burrillville. Thank you.
