Wiffle ball & popsicles

Cub Scouts Pack 7 is welcoming all boys and girls entering grades K through 5 to join them at Scouter”s Hall on Tuesday, August 5 for wiffle ball and popsicles. Register to attend at [email protected] or (401) 864-1652.

Ranger walk

The North Smithfield Heritage Association will host National Park Service Rangers on Thursday, August 7 for a Ranger Walk at Friends Meetinghouse and Union Cemetery. Learn the early history of the village of Woonsocket before it became Union Village.
Participants will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Smithfield Friends Meetinghouse at 108 Smithfield Road in Woonsocket. 

Concert

The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department’s summer concerts continue this week with a free show by Jesse Liam Band on Thursday, August 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gazebo at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The series is sponsored by Navigant Credit Union.

More live music

The Island at 1600 Victory Highway has a full entertainment lineup this week starting on Thursday, August 7 with a visit by Billy Leetch from 6 to 9 p.m. On Friday, August 8, it’s Exit 17 from 7 to 10 p.m. and on Saturday, August 9, The Live Music Band will perform at the outdoor venue starting at 7 p.m. Steve Walason will play on Sunday, August 10 starting at 3 p.m.

In the Plastic Palace at Lindy’s Tavern at 98 School St., King Vintage will play on Saturday, August 9 starting at 8 p.m. and Drew Carey will perform on Sunday, August 10 starting at 3 p.m.

Pantry dates

The North Smithfield Food Pantry has announced that pickup dates in August will take place on Tuesdays, August 19 and 26 starting at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays, August 23 and 30 starting 10 a.m.

The Food Pantry is open to North Smithfield residents who must have a photo ID and a bill that confirms their address. Guests can attend the pantry all open dates each month at the Slatersville Congregational Church UCC on the Common at 25 Green St.

For the month of August, the pantry is seeking donations of canned beans and dried pasta.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Personnel Board will hold a meeting on Monday, August 4 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the North Smithfield Police Station at 575 Smithfield Road. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a meeting on Monday, August 4 starting at 6:45 p.m.at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
