Concerts, Show Off Your Ride & fun on the farm: Seven things to know in North Smithfield this week

At the farm

Wright’s Dairy Farm and Bakery at 200 Woonsocket Hill Road will host two events this week starting with Blount Food Truck night on Wednesday, August 20 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Guests are invited to visit the cows while grabbing dinner and dessert.

On Saturday, August 23, the farm will host Scoops, Songs and Slices from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., with pizza, ice cream and live music by Northeast Groove.

Freshman orientation

North Smithfield High School will hold an orientation night for incoming freshmen on Thursday, August 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the school at 412 Greenville Road. Students will have the chance to tour the school, meet the staff and learn about the environment.

Final concert

The final concert in North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department’s summer series will take place this week, with a free show by The Live Music Band on Thursday, August 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gazebo at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The series is sponsored by Navigant Credit Union.

Sanctuary Sounds

Slatersville Congregational Church will also host a free concert this week, with a performance by In Lieu of Flowers on the Common at 25 Green St. starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 22. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets, and there will be snacks for purchase and bathrooms onsite.

Car show

The 11th annual Rev. William J. Frehill Council #5702 Show Off Your Ride car show will take place on Sunday, August 24 on the grounds of the Beef Barn Restaurant at 200 Industrial Drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Entry costs $10 with trophies to be awarded, and all proceeds to benefit the organization’s scholarship fund.

The event is sponsored by Anchor Auto Group and will feature music by Cruisin Bruce and was postponed from its originally scheduled date in July.

Richard III

Catch North Smithfield resident Alivia Verasammy in CCRI Players’ adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Richard III,” as the group wraps up the summer 2025 season this week.  The first show is scheduled for August 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET, with additional showings set for August 22, 23, and 24.

The play will be held at the Bobby Hackett Theater on CCRI’s Knight Campus in Warwick, RI. Tickets are available online and priced at $5 for CCRI students; $10 for seniors, college students and CCRI employees; and $20 for general admission.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a meeting on Monday, August 18 starting at 6:45 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
