TAUNTON, Mass. – The search for a missing woman with local roots ended this week after police in Massachusetts discovered her remains and charged her boyfriend with murder.

Kylee Monteiro, age 18, was 11 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. Her remains were found in a grave dug on the property in Rehoboth where her boyfriend, 22-year-old Gregory Groom, lives with his grandparents.

Monteiro lived in Burrillville and attended Burrillville schools in her early years prior to the death of her mother, Kerri Fiske, in 2019. She had recently graduated from Attleboro High School.

Groom was arraigned Wednesday morning in Taunton District Court, where prosecutors reportedly said he confessed to the crime after police told him they were preparing to search his property. Police say Groom admitted to stabbing Monteiro multiple times with a kitchen knife during an altercation, and told officers about digging a hole in the woods, where he hid the body.

Groom pled not guilty and was held without bail. He is due back in court on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
