National Preparedness Month

The North Smithfield Emergency Management Agency is reminding residents that September is National Preparedness Month and that it is now time to prepare yourself and those in your care for natural disasters.

“Police, fire and EMA may not always be able to reach you quickly in emergency or disaster,” noted a release from the agency. “The most important step you can take in helping your local responders is being able to take care of yourself and those in your care; the more people who are prepared, the more quickly the community will recover.”

Homes should be ready for three days without electricity and water service, or access to a supermarket or local services. A full publication of emergency preparedness tips for North Smithfield residents can be found at the end of this article.

Athletic passes

The North Smithfield Athletic Association is now selling Northmen Athletic Passes for entry to all home games on school grounds. Passes cost $75 for a family of up to six adults, $40 for single individuals or $3 for seniors, and can be purchased via Venmo to @NSAthleticAssociation.

North Smithfield students always get free entry to the games.
