GLOCESTER – “Only in Glocester,” noted the police department this week as officers pursued a donkey that had somehow gotten loose and was roaming along town roadways.

The wayward beast – seen early Friday morning “casually strolling” along Chopmist Hill Road – was just one of the unusual problems that were all in a day’s work this week for members of the Glocester Police Department.

On Thursday, police put out a humorous “most wanted” poster for a fugitive goat that had somehow made its way into a resident’s a home.

“For the past several weeks, you may have noticed a goat has been on the loose around town,” noted GPD. “This week, he took things to the next level and became an active suspect in a breaking & entering in a home off Cooper Road.”

“Officers arrived and caught him red-hooved inside the home, but the suspect was faster than us and made his getaway out the back door and back into the woods,” the department noted. “He remains at large and now has an active warrant with our department. If you spot this four-legged fugitive, don’t approach—just give us a call.”

While the goat remained on the loose as of Friday, Sept. 26, police had located the owner of “Harvey” the donkey, and escorted the animal home.

“The goat is still free, still fast, and still making us look bad,” GPD noted. “The goat’s fine. We’re not.”
