Feasibility study
Town Administrator Scott Gibbs announced this week that the feasibility study for potentially establishing a Tax Increment Financing District in town has been finalized. The study is posted on the town website here. In the town newsletter, Gibbs noted that the feasibility study determined that the TIF initiative was feasible given the projected infrastructure costs and buildout assumptions.
“The study did state that using conservative buildout assumptions, there would be a funding gap,” the release noted. “This conclusion was consistent with statements made by the administration at the beginning of the planning process.”
Gibbs noted that the administration is currently seeking state funding support for a second study phase. The phase would reportedly include a market study, further refinement of the TIF strategy, and development of a new zoning district to guide development in the corridor.
