GLOCESTER – A gym teacher at Ponaganset High School has resigned from the position amid allegations of misconduct and is now under investigation by the Rhode Island State Police – reportedly over an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Supt. Renee Palazzo confirmed that Alisha Crins no longer works for the district but declined to comment further, noting that the state police are now handling the situation.

Crins, a married 39-year-old Cranston resident previously taught at a North Smithfield school.

In Ponaganset, Crins was also a program instructor for the district’s Health & Fitness/EMT CTE program.

According to several accounts online, Crins has been involved with a former PHS student since his sophomore year. Those who claim to have knowledge of the situation say the relationship came to light after the girlfriend of the student, who graduated last year, discovered his text messages with the teacher.

“Update/investigation of allegations of misconduct, either civil or criminal,” is among the items listed for executive session on the Foster-Glocester School Committee’s agenda for a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 7.

Glocester Police Lt. Jeffrey Jenison also confirmed that the RISP is investigating an alleged incident.

State police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

  1. I agree with other comments. It would have been enough to say she is married and was for the duration of this alleged relationship. You didn’t have to list name and resume of the spouse. As a survivor of infidelity that was inhumane!

    • Totally agree Jill! That poor man is a wonderful person and I’m sure devastated. Let’s add to his family embarrassment by making him look bad too!

    • While this story is absolutely horrible, I 100% agree with you. There was absolutely no need to doxx her husband!! Never in an article do we get a family tree or details of the spouse or family of the perpetrator. Sad that this is what reporting is coming to.
