
Open house
Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road will hold an Open House on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Learn about the school’s career and technical education programs, meet instructors, and see what opportunities await students. Prospective students, parents and curious community members are encouraged to attend.
Taxes
Town of Glocester is reminding residents that 2025 second quarter tax payment is due on November 1 and interest/penalties will be applied on December 1 on the unpaid quarter at the rate of 8 percent per annum retroactive to August 1. The remaining quarters will be due and payable as stated on the tax bill.
Real Estate tax bills were mailed at the end of July 2025. Anyone who has not received a tax bill, is asked to call 568-6206, ext. 4. Failure to receive a tax bill will not excuse non payment or any related interest/penalty. Payments can be made at Town Hall during business hours, online at www.RIeGovernment.com or via check at the payment drop box.

Scarecrow festival
The Glocester Scarecrow Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Chepachet Village, with creative scarecrows on display, fun family activities, live music, local vendors, food trucks and more.

Winter coat drive
Ponaganset High School senior Avery Tancede is teaming up with local Glocester nonprofit Friends helping Friends to deliver coats directly to the homeless of Rhode Island. Tancede is holding a coat drive from through Thursday, Oct. 30 and new or gently used coats can be dropped off at Apple Valley Insurance office at 528 Putnam Pike or sent in with students at PHS or West Glocester Elementary.

Student shoutout
The Ponaganset Music Parents Association is offering parents a chance to support music students with a digital program shoutout.
A shoutout is a chance to cheer on your favorite music student while helping them pay for upcoming music trips. Personalized messages will appear in the digital program, streamed before every concert during the school year, with a choice of a full-page ad for $40 or half-page ad for $20.

The Glocester Housing Authority will hold a monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 14 starting at 7 p.m. in the community room of Laurel Crest at 64 Chestnut Hill Road. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Town Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 16 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. A public hearing originally scheduled to be held at the meeting will likely be continued, according to a note on the town website. The agenda will be posted 48 hours in advance on the Secretary of State website here.
