Cyber safety
North Smithfield Library at 20 Main St. will offer a session on cyber safety for seniors on Wednesday, Nov. 19 starting at 10:30 a.m. Learn about internet safety and the many different scams that are out there targeting older adults, from the “Toll Owed Text” to “Microsoft needs access to your computer” and “Hey I like your profile pic DM me.”

Attendance recognition
Congratulations to North Smithfield High School on receiving special recognition this week from Gov. Dan McKee and the Rhode Island Department of Education for a 1.71 percent improvement in weekly attendance rate last week. The school was recognized as part of the Attendance Matters RI campaign aimed at curbing chronic absenteeism.
Coffee hour
Networking opportunities at Gold Door Realty continue this week, with a monthly coffee hour scheduled to take place on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 9 to 10 a.m. Stop in at the co-working space at 585 Smithfield Road for complimentary coffee while you connect and collaborate.
Shredding/e-waste
The North Smithfield Highway Department will hold an e-waste disposal and shredding event on Saturday, Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at the highway garage at 281 Quaker Highway.

Meat raffle
The Island at 1600 Victory Highway will hold a Thanksgiving-themed meat raffle on Saturday, Nov. 22 starting at 3 p.m. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and can be purchased in advance at the bar.
This event is open to the public and you do not need to be present to win.
