Holiday Food Drive

The Harmony Fire Department has been partnering with The Hype RI on a Holiday Food Drive – and Tuesday, Nov. 18 is the final push. The group is collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items at the firehouse at 194 Putnam Pike at a donation box in the day room.

On Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. the department will deliver the donations to The Hype via an antique fire engine.

Turkey Storytime

Glocester Manton Library at 1137 Putnam Pike will host Turkey Storytime with Xen’s Critters on Tuesday, Nov. 18 starting at 5 p.m. Participants will meet a turkey, read turkey-related stories and hear fun facts about the birds. Registration is required here.

Fall safety

The Glocester Emergency Management Agency has published a fall safety checklist and is advising residents to take action now to prepare for winter. Residents are advised to update their emergency safety kits and replace expired food, medication and water. Homeowners should test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and replace batteries if needed, and inspect furnace filters and chimneys.

Residents are also reminded to place leaves in bags and containers, not blow them into the street as they can freeze and leave roads icy and slick. As it gets dark earlier, those outdoors should also take caution in the evening to make sure they are visible to motorists.

Live music

Hill’s Tavern & Grill at 417 Putnam Pike will have a full schedule this week with Midnight Honey on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 7 to 10 p.m. and Acoustic on Saturday, Nov. 22 from 3 to 8 p.m. On Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight, it’s Steve Smith and The Nakeds, and on Sunday, Nov. 23, So Many Rhodes will play from 2 to 3 p.m.

At Cady’s Tavern at 2168 Putnam Pike, it’s Lifelong Obsession on Friday, Nov. 21 starting at 8 p.m. and Sunday is the weekly Roadhouse Blues starting at 3 p.m.
