NORTH SMITHFIELD – The North Smithfield Heritage Association recently completed major renovations to Heritage Hall at 101 Green St., painting the exterior and replacing components of the old HVAC system.
The work was completed with a $7,000 grant from the 1772 Foundation and with the help of public support.

The NSHA, a volunteer organization that works to preserve and promote the culture, heritage and history of North Smithfield owns the structure, built in 1897 as a chapel for the St. Luke’s Episcopal Mission. The building once served a congregation of families from the Slatersville textile mills, and then became a community center. It was later owned by the Union Grange and known as Grange #13 before it was donated to the association in 1996.
In the years since, the NSHA has fully renovated the structure while maintaining its historic character. It consists of a lower and upper hall, each with full service kitchens and restrooms. Both serve as rental space to raise funds for the organization, with the upper hall available to the public for a cost of $400. It has a capacity of people 69 with tables for 8-10.

The lower hall seats 64 people and is available to rent for private events at a cost of $300.
In the latest round of improvements, R&R Painting was hired to paint the exterior and Advanced Comfort Systems performed the HVAC work.

NSHA thanked all who help to fund the preservation activities.
