Snow likely on the way for northern Rhode Island

Northern RI – The National Weather Service is forecasting snow over the next few days, with the first measurable flakes of the season to begin falling before midnight on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Southwest winds are expected to calm this evening, with a 90 percent chance of precipitation, and possible snow accumulation of around an inch.

On Sunday, snow is likely to continue at times through the morning and early afternoon, for another expected inch of accumulation, and a slight chance of additional snow showers between 3 and 4 p.m.

Sunday night is expected to be clear and cold with a low of 13, and winds returning with gusts as high as 20 miles per hour.

There is another chance of snow showers Monday evening before midnight, but little or no additional accumulation is expected.
