Northern RI – The fifth entry in our holiday village contest comes from Polly and Bob Lamarque of Pascoag.
Started in 1974 with three small paper mache houses and a tiny manger, the village now features multiple levels, with a nativity at the top.

Polly notes that Bob’s small purchase more than 50 years ago developed into a passion that still exists today, but on a larger scale.
“When traveling, he would always be on the lookout for miniatures, especially animals of any kind, that were the correct scale size and would blend in well with his village,” she said.

It takes Bob 10-14 days to assemble the village and “an insurmountable amount of patience,” Polly noted.

The deadline has passed for submissions in our holiday village contest, with voting to begin once we publish our final entry later this week.
The winner will be announced during the first week of January and will receive a $50 gift card to New Leaf Coffee Bar in Burrillville.

This is a beautiful, thought out display! It begins with the creche, to Santa’s village, Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, a New England Village set around the water, and even Walt Disney’s beginnings.
My kids and grandkids have enjoyed viewing this display. It is very detailed. Bob and Polly have done a remarkable job! Definitely deserving of #1.
#5 needs to win. It’s the most interesting depiction of Charles Dickens life and times!!
Outstanding, so detailed, amazing!! Each village transitions into the next to portrait a winter wonderland like no other. Kudos to Poly and bob Lamarque for a truly beautiful inspirational presentation.
5 gets my vote! Really detailed and well done.

Five is my vote!! What an amazing job Bob has done!! You can surely see the true passion in his village!! Kudos to you Bob on one fine job!
#5 is definitely the winner. I have never seen such a more beautiful display of the Dickens Village as I have after visiting both Bob and Polly. He has it so well set up and having the Nativity crèche over looking the village makes it complete. #5 is my vote.
Without a doubt this has to be the winner. It’s just beautiful and I have also seen it this village up close. Words can’t describe how amazing this is and so detail intense. Just breathtaking.
#5 has definitely had the most thought-out presentation! The Crèche is atop the villages that depict everyday life… kids skating, shopkeepers and animals strolling about as they would in real life. Every scene tells a story and has you linger with amazement with how life in the villages would have been conducted since the people, buildings and scenery is all proportionate. This HUGE and beautifully crafted display gets my vote!!!
Holy Cow !!! That panoramic picture really captures the enormity of that Village !!! THAT is really a Beautiful display of a Christmas Village !!! The individual pictures that show the specific details of the buildings and items “IN” the village really help to see and understand the Great amount if long hours and hard work that appears to go into completing it. Very Very Nice….. Best I’ve ever seen !!!
Bob and Polly Lamarque’s Christmas Village display is absolutely amazing! I have seen this village myself in their home and as beautiful as the photographs are to be able to see it in its entirety is breath taking. So much thought and love is put into this display as well as the hours of time to put this labor of love together. As each house is carefully chosen and placed with all its surroundings and all of the trees, ponds, lighting, people, and pets the entire comes to life and you can visualize a true Christmas Village.
Seeing this village first hand I fell in love with it and began building my own since my grandson was born, he is now a senior in high school and has loved the village I started has and has now been handed over to him and is adding to it every year. Bob and Polly unknowingly brought the Christmas magic into my home and then into Matthew’s home. Mr. & Mrs. Lamarque’s Christmas Village is well deserving of being chosen #1 and have received my vote.
