Northern RI– The sixth and final entry in this year’s holiday village contest comes from Elizabeth Hemond and Diane Pearl of North Smithfield.

“Our village is the North Pole and it is special because it brings the magic of the North Pole to life,” said Hemond.

The village includes around 300 buildings in three rooms – and all of the houses are decorated with the theme of the building, and some even show the insides of the buildings and are placed in neighborhoods.

The many “districts” in this expansive village include areas for food making, toy making, business, shopping, a school and even a space devoted to Coca-Cola – Santa’s favorite drink.

A separate room features a miniature Disney World with rides, the Monorail, Epcot, Sea World, a zoo and story book character vignettes.

Yet another room is dedicated to the “Polelympics” with around 30 different sports including skiing, skating, gymnastics, boxing, fencing, hockey, wrestling and more.

NRI NOW will open voting in the contest with an announcement on Sunday, Dec. 28, to run through Sunday, Jan. 3. The winner will be announced the following week and will receive a $50 gift card to New Leaf Coffee Bar in Burrillville.

  1. I vote for number 6. It seems like it took a lot of time and effort to put it all together. I hope a lot of people come to see this village.

  2. I vote 6.i have seen this village in person and the pictures don’t do it justice. It is not your normal village—it is so unique. The creativity really comes thru. Every house has its own story and some even show what it is like to live in the North Pole. I particularly like the church where you see the pews, the altar with the chalice, a nativity scene, stained glass windows and even the church mouse playing the organ.

  3. The North Pole Christmas village #6 is done so nicely! You can see all the effort they put into their village! They deserve to win!
