  1. Sandy, thank you for you’re continued effort to increase community awareness.
One thing here surprised me. The advertisement promoting the police station Bond referendum had no indication of the sponsor. I know from personal experience it has always been your policy to require a disclaimer. Was there a particular reason it was missing this time or was it just an oversight?

    • Hi Richard. Disclaimers are required by law on advertisements related to candidates, which is why you have always seen those in the past. After checking with the state BOA, we learned disclaimers are not required for a special election for a bond. While we encourage disclaimers, we do not explicitly require them, and are happy to leave it up to the advertiser in this case as to whether or not to include it.

      • Thanks for the reply. You may remember the ad I placed back at the last police station Bond referendum. I guess that was before you checked into the intricacies of the law. I appreciate the work you do for Northern Rhode Island.

        • Yes it definitely would have been as I just recently inquired further about the details of the law. Worth noting that this requirement, when applicable, falls to the candidate not the publication – another fact I just recently learned.
