GLOCESTER – A four-alarm fire that began in the basement of a home on Snake Hill Road brought out emergency personnel from departments across Rhode Island late Monday morning.
Members of the Harmony Fire Department reported to a blaze at 394 Snake Hill Road before 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 9. An hour later, the fire was elevated to 3-alarms, with crews reporting that heavy fire from the basement had spread to the first floor of the home, and requesting additional manpower.
A 4th alarm was requested with a tanker task force two hours into fighting the blaze, and multiple mutual aid departments were dispatched.
Occupants of the single-story, wood frame residential structure reportedly got out safely, but the building is believed to be a total loss.
The Glocester Police Department has warned drivers to find an alternate route around the scene.
