Peacock storytime

Glocester Manton Library at 1137 Putnam Pike will hold Peacock Storytime on Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 5 to 5:45 p.m., a program for children of all ages and families. Bill Carpentier will display his peacock artwork and tell the story of how he began making the birds, followed by a peacock craft.

Businesses in Chepachet are inviting locals to Shop Small – Shop Chepachet on Thursday, Feb. 12 from 5 to 8 p.m., billed as “a simple winter gathering filled with creativity, community, and meaningful finds.”

Stand Up Comedy

Help support the Burrillville-Ponaganset boys hockey team on Friday, Feb. 13 at a stand up comedy show at Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club at 200 Brook Road in Burrillville. The event will include a cash bar and guests are invited to bring their own snacks with doors at 7 p.m. and the show starting at 8 p.m.

Tickets cost $25 and must be purchased in advance via Venmo to @BHSHockeyParents-Boosters with ticket holders names in the comments.

Live music

Hill Tavern at 417 Putnam Pike will host Blissful Moon on Saturday, Feb. 14 starting at 8:30 p.m. and 3 Can Jam on Sunday, Feb. 15 starting at 2 p.m.

Cady’s Tavern at 2168 Putnam Pike will host Jesse Desorcy on Friday, Feb. 13 starting at 7:30 p.m. Ron Jones will be at Cady’s starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday and on Sunday, the tavern will host its weekly blues jam starting at 3 p.m.

Award

The Glocester Business Association recently named Kimberly Michalik, board member and owner of Oakleaf Family Campground, this year’s Joan M. Scorpio Award recipient. The award honors extraordinary dedication to both the GBA and the Glocester community.

“Kim embodies that spirit fully,” noted GBA. “We are proud to recognize her service.”
