Blood drive

The Glocester Police Department will hold a blood drive on Thursday, Feb. 19 from 1 to 5 p.m. in conference room #6 of Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. To schedule a donation, visit www.ribc.org/drives and use sponsor code 5089.

Bingo/Quarter auction

Pinewood Pub & Pizza at 16 Terry Lane will host a bingo and quarter auction event on Thursday, Feb. 19 with shopping to start at 5:30 p.m. and paddles up at 6 p.m. There will be a 50/50 auction and guests should bring a few rolls of quarters.

Seats are expected to sell out and can be reserved by contacting Linda at (401) 639-4108.

Ordinance change & meeting schedules

The Town Clerk’s office is notifying residents that the Town Council recently passed a new law for itinerant or temporary vendors, which went into effect on Thursday, Feb. 5. The complete ordinance for Chapter 198 governing licenses and application requirements for hawkers and peddlers can be found here.

The clerk’s office also published links last week to the meeting schedules for most town boards, with separate links for the Charter Review Commission and the Glocester School Committee.

Live music

At Cady’s Tavern at 2168 Putnam Pike, The Side Effects will perform on Friday, Feb. 20, with a show starting at 7 p.m. On Saturday night, the tavern will feature entertainment by the Porch Rockers, and on Sunday, guests at the weekly Roadhouse Blues Jam are expected to include guest Roberto Morbilio from Italy.

Hill’s Tavern at 417 Putnam Pike will host So Many Rhodes on Sunday, Feb. 22, with a show starting at 2 p.m.

At the libraries

Parents looking for something to do with the kids this week can check out Play doh Pals at Harmony Library starting at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19. Registration is required for the seats remaining here.

The library also has free vegetable and flower seeds available thanks to the URI Master Gardeners. Seeds can be picked up during normal hours Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Town meetings

The Glocester Board of Contracts and Purchases will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 18 starting at 3 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.
