BURRILLVILLE – Starting next week, NRI NOW will offer a new monthly feature dubbed “The Road Scott Traveled,” a travel column contributed by Burrillville resident Scott Rabideau.
Rabideau is well known to many in Burrillville, Glocester and North Smithfield, as well as elsewhere in the state, through his work as a professional wetland scientist and for his public service.

Natural Resource Services, Inc., Rabideau’s wetland consulting firm of 38 years, helped scores of Rhode Island families and businesses navigate the state’s complicated freshwater wetland regulations to achieve successful development projects. Last June, he closed the Harrisville-based company and retired, wrapping up a 40 year career as an environmental consultant.

Rabideau was elected State Representative for the town of Burrillville in 1994 and served four consecutive terms, leaving elected office in 2002. Gov. Lincoln Chafee appointed Rabideau to the Judicial Nominating Commission in 2013 where he served until 2019. Gov. Dan McKee nominated him to the state Ethics Commission in 2024, where he currently serves as a commissioner.
You might also recognize him from the little league field. Rabideau has volunteered as an umpire for the Burrillville Little League each season since 2007. He likes to joke that he has a“quick trigger” when it comes to ejecting overly rambunctious coaches.
Finally, and most importantly to him, Rabideau serves as a trustee for the June Rockwell Levy Foundation. This position provides him with the opportunity to continue the Levy’s legacy of philanthropy through the funding of non-profit entities serving northern Rhode Island.
Rabideau is now looking forward to exploring the less traveled roads in New England. Read about these unique road trips in his new NRI NOW column “The Road Scott Traveled.”
