Snow delays
Town Hall is closed due to the winter storm on Monday, Feb. 23 and there will be no trash collection this week. Collection will resume on a regular schedule next Monday. A parking ban remains in place in town until further notice and town schools were cancelled through Wednesday, Feb. 25, with a virtual learning day scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 26.
Coffee hour
Good Working at 585 Smithfield Road will host a coffee hour on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 8 to 9 a.m. Join fellow professionals for complimentary coffee while you connect and collaborate at the free event, which is open to the public.
Community Conversation
In honor of Black History Month, Slatersville Congregational Church at 25 Greene St. will offer a viewing of a segment of Slatersville: America’s First Mill Village Season 2, Episode 3 on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. The segment will be followed by a conversation with filmmaker Christian de Rezendes exploring reactions to how members of the community have been treated throughout history.
The event is free and all are welcome with light refreshments to be served.
Who’s who
A profile for Dr. Suzanne Scott, owner of Slatersville Veterinary Clinic, was recently added to the Marquis Who’s Who. Scott holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine as well as a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Virginia. Prior to opening the clinic in 2022, Scott spent more than 15 years as a veterinarian at West Greenwich Animal Hospital. She maintains professional affiliations with the American Veterinary Medicine Association as well as the Rhode Island Veterinary Medicine Association.
