Sunday cartoon: Snow sledding safety

BURRILLVILLE – With all of the snow that we still have on the ground, I’m certain kids and families are taking advantage of our recent record-breaking snowfall and heading to the hills to participate in sledding activities before milder temperatures arrive and the snow melts away.

Sledding is fun, but can also cause serious injuries if preventive measures are not taken before traveling quickly down hills and mounds of snow. One way to avoid any unintentional injuries is to make sure that you are sledding away from trees and any other obstacles or obstructions that may be in your area of activities. Avoid trees and make sure that you have a clear path while sledding. Watch for other kids and families that may be sledding and if necessary, be patient and wait your turn if there are others sledding on the same hills and mounds to avoid contact and collisions.

The Fearless Dino Protector Squad wants kids to play it safe and sled without getting hurt or hurting others while the snow is still around. You may also wear a helmet to protect your head in case of a tumble or a fall. Safety is priority number one when it comes to sledding during the winter season. Have fun kids!
