NORTH SMITHFIELD – People showed up for No Kings Day protests in towns across America on Saturday, and North Smithfield was no exception, as locals gathered in front of Slatersville Plaza to speak out against the policies and actions of President Donald Trump and his administration.
Fred Hunt, chairman of the Burrillville Democratic Town Committee, which organized the event in conjunction with the North Smithfield Democratic Town Committee and Indivisible RI, estimated that at it’s height, the protest had between 200 and 250 people. Protestors waved signs reading “ICE Out” and “Defend Democracy.”
They were among millions across the country to do so on Saturday at events organized by “No Kings,” a network of progressive groups.

“Democracy cannot work with extreme economic inequality,” said U.S. Senate candidate Connor Burbridge, speaking to those assembled. “Our Democratic experiment intended to make sure that America would never be a land of kings and oligarchs. Establishment Republicans are trying to crown a new king while corporations are hellbent on rigging the economy to line their own pockets.”
Many honked their horns as they drove by the protest, which took place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28.

Thankfully us Republicans do not act like these CLOWNS! We never protested NO KINGS when Obama and Biden were in office. Obama fined anyone who did not get his “OBAMA CARE” and Biden got everyone FIRED who DID NOT get the JAB! So don’t talk to me about KINGS! There were two of them and neither was Trump!

Its a sign of a very brave person who would put their life & liberty at rick to publicly protest against the King… Thank God we don’t have a King so this little gathering was a little silly.
Exactly
Thank you all for your valiant efforts. Unfortunately your efforts fell short and the mayor of Providence is unfortunately still King.
I want to thank everyone who took the time out of their busy day to defend democracy.
In the end, the gubment does not pay any attention, do as they please. So why freeze out there and hold signs? It’s your right, yes indeed, but does any good really come from all your efforts once they have been elected? The voting booth holds the key….
I’m with ya it isn’t gonna make a Difference. The revolutionary was wasn’t Non-Violent. That’s the issue.
I don’t watch TV, I don’t own any….I know more than these people…I don’t vote in selections or watch the news. They are driven by___________
