Budget vote – take two

School officials have scheduled a date to continue the Financial Town Meeting for the Foster-Glocester Regional School District following rejection by voters of their proposed budget last month. The meeting will reconvene on Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road.

All registered voters in the towns of Foster and Glocester are eligible to cast a ballot.

The Anxious Generation

Glocester Manton Library at 1137 Putnam Pike is inviting parents and caregivers of elementary and middle school kids to attend a new study group beginning Monday, April 13 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. exploring parenting in the digital age. Participants will explore the book “The Anxious Generation” and discuss how to help youth restore independence, play and mental health.

Evening of the Arts

Shops in Chepachet Village will host an “Evening of the Arts” on Thursday, April 9, billed as a night of “creativity, conversation, and spring warmth.” Visit the village from 5 to 8 p.m. for a slow, cozy gathering as they welcome visiting artists for a special night event with a mini-wine tour.

Businesses participating include Holidaze Stained Glass, Brown & Hopkins Country Store, Kim’s Painted Glass, The Hen House and Trish Hampton.

Live Music

Hill’s Tavern at 417 Putnam Pike will host Midnight Honey on Thursday, April 9 starting at 7 p.m. On Saturday, it’s Escape Route starting at 8 p.m.

At Cady’s Tavern at 2168 Putnam Pike, it’s Desert Rain on Friday, April 10 starting at 7:30 p.m. DIRT returns to Cady’s on Saturday, April 11 starting at 8 p.m., and on Sunday, the tavern will host its weekly Roadhouse Blues.

Fundraiser

On Sunday, Hill’s Tavern will host a fundraiser for Walter Karsepck, a local musician who has been battling cancer. The event will feature a pasta dinner, raffles and entertainment by the White Shadows. Tickets cost $15 at the door.

The Board of Canvassers will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 7 starting at 2:30 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.
