BURRILLVILLE – The chief financial officer of WellOne Primary Medical & Dental Care recently retired after more than two decades of stewardship for the non-profit healthcare provider.

Diane Hopper delivered her final financial report at the WellOne board meeting on Monday, March 23.

A Jamestown resident who graduated from North Kingstown Senior High School, Hopper earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s in business administration from Bryant College.

She was named CFO of WellOne in 2005, a position charged with managing finances for the charitable organization, which provides primary medical, dental and behavioral health services for some 19,000 patients a year from a center based in Pascoag, as well as additional locations in Foster, Scituate and North Kingstown.

A reported 27 percent of WellOne patients are Burrillville residents.

Hopper was promoted to the role of vice president of the organization in 2013, and continued her work as CFO.

Hopper’s replacement, Greg Meinertz, is already in place with the organization. A certified public accountant since 1991, Meinertz holds two master’s degrees from Bryant University, in business administration and science in taxation. He previously served as senior vice president and CFO of the Hockomock Area YMCA in North Attleboro, Mass. for 32 years.

In a note on the retirement, Councilor Dennis Anderson, who also serves on the WellOne Board of Directors, acknowledged Hopper’s contributions.

“She has been instrumental in the success of WellOne over the past two decades through her financial stewardship and management, which is no small task for a nonprofit in the healthcare space,” noted Anderson, recommending the Town Council pass a proclamation recognizing Hopper’s service and retirement.

The initiative has been placed on the council’s agenda for the meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 8.

“Diane’s leadership enabled the organization to provide services to patients in a fiscally sustainable manner,” notes the proposed language. “Throughout her tenure, Diane has demonstrated unwavering commitment, professionalism, and integrity; and her contributions have left a lasting legacy that will continue to advance the mission of WellOne for the benefit of Burrillville residents.”

“We, the Town Council, honor and commend Diane Hopper and wish her, and her family, well in whatever the future may hold,” the recommended citation notes.
