JOHNSTON — State police arrested a North Smithfield man on Friday and charged him with driving under the influence following a crash on Route 295.
Nicholas McCarthy, 41, of Providence Pike was reportedly taken into custody in Johnston at 6:51 p.m. on Friday, April 10 by troopers with the Scituate Barracks, according to a release on the incident.
McCarthy was charged with driving under the influence, BAC unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
The arrest was the result of investigation of a motor vehicle accident on the highway, according to police.
McCarthy was transported to State Police headquarters where he was processed and held overnight, pending arraignment in Third District Court.
