Secretary of State Gregg Amore visited Burrillville High School last week to teach a civics lesson to students in the AP United States Government and Politics class.

Yoga in the Church

First Universalist Church at 134 Harrisville Main St. will host Yoga with Jackie on Monday, April 13 from 7 to 8 p.m. The gentle flow class is appropriate for all levels of experience and is free, with a donation suggested. Participants should bring their own may and arrive 10-15 minutes early.

Burrillville in armed conflicts

The Burrillville 250 Commission will hold another lecture in their ongoing series on Tuesday, April 14, covering “The History of Burrillville in Armed Conflicts” on Tuesday, April 14, in an event at Jesse Smith Library at 100 Tinkham Lane starting at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, April 18, the group will offer a guided tour of the grave sites of Revolutionary War soldiers. Participants will meet at the rear of Callahan Elementary School at 75 Callahan School Street at 10 a.m.

New England Fire Equipment & Apparatus Corporation delivered a new 3,000 gallon tanker to the East Burrillville Fire District last week.

Comedy show

Crystal Verrier and her Team Tru Heroes will host a comedy show on Friday, April 17 to support Run to Home Base, a national nonprofit dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war for veterans, service members, military families and families of the fallen. Frank Santos Jr. will perform at the Assembly Theatre at 26 East Ave. at an event to start at 5:30 p.m. with raffles and refreshments before the talent takes the stage at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the 21 plus event cost $30 in advance purchased here or $40 at the door.

Earth Day cleanup

The Burrillville’s volunteer-driven two-week effort to clean up town roadways in celebration of Earth Day begins on Saturday, April 18 in a DIY event sponsored by the town of Burrillville, the Burrillville Lions Club and the Burrillville Conservation Commission. Volunteers are asked to contact Recycling Coordinator Andrea Hall to sign up for a specific location and receive cleaning supplies, and must leave filled bags on the side of the roadway to be collected by the Department of Public Works.

Pen Making Craft Night

The DPNA will hold a pen making craft night event at The Beckwith Bruckshaw Lodge at 50 Lodge Road on Saturday, April 18 starting at 3 p.m. The event is for ages 4 and up, with DPNA to provide supplies and raise funds to support their annual events such as Punmpkinfest and the Victorian Holiday. The cost is $7 for one pen or $12 for 2, with pen making supplies for every interest including Disney and Marvel.

Wicked Rhode

The Assembly Theatre at 26 East Ave. will host rocking dance band Wicked Rhode on Saturday, April 18, with a show starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost just $10 and are available here or at the door, and snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

Support group

Ace of Dogs will host a free aggressive and behavioral dog support group at New Leaf Coffee Bar at 75 Pascoag Main St. on Sunday, April 19 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Network with others dealing with the problem in a guided discussion, with refreshments available for purchase. RSVP here.
