Holiday schedule
Glocester Town Hall will close at noon today, Tuesday, Dec. 31 in celebration of the holiday. Town Hall will re-open for business at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2.
New Year’s fun
If you’re looking to get out tonight to ring in the New Year, Hill’s Tavern at 417 Putnam Pike will host an NYE party with “Tipsy Taco Tuesday food and drinks,” karaoke, late night breakfast and a midnight champagne toast starting at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.
For those who prefer a first day celebration, Cady’s Tavern will start off 2025 with an afternoon show with Neal & the Vipers on Wednesday, Jan. 1 from 2 to 6 p.m.
Swearing in
New and re-elected members of the Glocester Town Council will be sworn into office this week at a ceremony scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2 in the council chambers at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The ceremony will be followed by an organizational meeting, with the agenda linked below.
Gusting winds
The National Weather Service has issued a warning that strong to damaging gusts of wind are expected to blow through the region on Thursday, Jan. 2. Westerly winds gusts of 45 to 60 miles per hour are predicted between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. across all of southern New England.
Below normal temperatures are also ecpected to return on Friday, Jan. 3 and last through the weekend.
Coffee hours
Town officials will host drop-in style coffee hours on Friday, Jan. 3 with information about the Chepachet Village Septic Improvement Program. Attendees will have the chance to hear more about the program in an informal setting, ask questions or file a statement of interest form. Coffee hours will be held in Room 6 at Glocester Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike from 8 to 10 a.m.

Goat snacks
Local farms are asking residents to consider donating to their animals when disposing of Christmas trees. The farm at 1225 Snake Hill Road is one accepting unsprayed greenery with all ornaments removed.
Town meetings
The Glocester Town Council will hold a meeting on Thursday, Jan. 2 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.
